Sue Cunningham
indie folk singer songwriter
-
Sue Cunningham is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter known for her earthy vocals, intimate songwriting, and acoustic-driven sound. Her songs explore resilience, care, and the quieter truths of lived experience, moving between delicate fingerpicking and grounded rhythmic passages.
Her newly released second album, Stay (January 2026), brings together songs written over many years and across different chapters of her life. Shaped by vulnerability and quiet resolve, the album moves between the personal and the planetary, sitting with loss, uncertainty, and the long work of staying present.
With a career spanning several decades, Sue has performed extensively on festival and touring circuits across Western Australia and the east coast. She released her debut album Heart My Home in 2008 and returned to her roots in the Blue Mountains in 2012, where she continues to write and record independently alongside a career in environmental science.

Acknowledgement of Country
I live and create music in the Blue Mountains which is located within the Ngurra (Country) of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. I recognise that Dharug and Gundungurra Traditional Custodians have a continuous and deep connection to Ngurra and I pay my respects to their Elders, past and present.
